Grizzly Bear get the call up for a Super Bowl commercial

How awesome is this! Grizzly Bear are on the brand new Super Bowl T.V commercial with their song Two Weeks. It's actually a pretty funny ad with not only Grizzly Bear but Stevie Wonder (who is rumoured to be headlining the 2010 Glastonbury Festival) and also Tracy Morgan from 30 Rock. 2. Mumford & Sons Sydney Show.

    Mumford & Sons Sydney Show.

I went and saw Mumford & Sons play at their first official Sydney show (their second show was actually the day before) and I'll put it out there, the best show I have seen all year, yes it's only early in the year but I think it'll still rank that high in months time. Talking to the bartender at the pub next door (we had some time to kill so had a sneaky one) and she said all afternoon the band was soundchecking and rehearsing in the back alley and it annoyed her so she turned her music up.. WTF!!! Anyway, back to the night. We got in there for the start of Jonathan Boulet and his beautiful looking band and you know what, that kid can perform. With so much hype around him, I thought that he may be a little disappointing but nope, when he busted out A Community Service Announcement, the crowd went nuts. Standing at Oxford Art Factory with a err..rasberry cordial, I noticed that the entire Mumford & Sons band were watching Jonathan and having been lucky enough to meet some of Mumford & Sons the day before, I went up to Marcus and asked how he was going and his thoughts on the room and he was genuinely surprised how many people were there and they were very excited to be there. They started and were ridiculously brilliant. I thought I may get banjo'd out, nope. They played new songs because they had the time to do it, bantered with the crowd and smiled non-stop! An insider source told me that the first show, that was actually the second show, was so much better and the band were a lot more excited and happy - Marcus thanked everyone for being the first people to buy tix to their shows in Australia. Enjoy the brilliant pics!

    Track
    Resistance
    Artist
    Muse
    Info
Recent Big Day Out headliners, Muse always sound like they're on the verge of some huge intergalactic space battle. I'm not sure who they're fighting – aliens, government conspiracies, Susan Boyle? – but man, it sounds epic! On the third single from the album of the same name, they sound like they're also on the verge on the verge of classic trance. I'm thinking Robert Miles' ‘Children' for starters...

    Take Me Away
    Artist
    Iron Jack
    Info
Harking back to a time when rock looked you straight in the eye rather than gazing at its shoes like a wuss, Iron Jack's sound reminiscent of no-nonsense riffers like AC/DC and Rose Tattoo. The Sydney five-piece have just completed their second EP ‘Bad Girls… Need Good Lovin' which is out now. We pray to God that it's as good as its title.

    You Used To Hold Me
    Artist
    Calvin Harris
    Info
After getting his party on at this year's Big Day Out, Mr Harris pumps out a fresh electro banger from his hit record Ready for the Weekend and you can already picture the trashed chicks falling over their handbags for this one in clubs. ‘You used to hold me,' Calvin sings over and over again, but is it about an ex-lover or his mum? We're not sure either, so we'll just keep dancing...

    321 Ready or Not
    Artist
    Jonathan Boulet
    Info
At just 21, Sydney boy wonder Jonathan Boulet puts us all to shame. He's already written and recorded his self-titled debut album (in his mum's garage!) and signed to Modular Records, home to The Presets and Ladyhawke. Representative of what you can expect on the album, ‘321 Ready or Not' is a blissful blast of off-beat pop and unashamed childhood joy.

    Highway Blonde
    Info
Formerly known as Smart Artists, Highway Blonde are so rock, you can smell the testosterone and flannelette in the air. Specialising in propulsive, full-throttle songs, the Gold Coast foursome released their debut album Winning Ways last year and have been touring the country ever since.  Check ‘em out.
