When frontman Rory Burnside sings “I can’t believe how far we’ve come/I can’t believe how much we’ve done”, you better believe him. There’s few music acts in the world that can be called inspirational but this miraculous Melbourne six-piece truly deserve the title. Rudely Interrupted sees five of its six members – Rory, Connie, Josh, Marcus and Sam – overcoming their disabilities (which include Down Syndrome, deafness, Asbergers Syndrome and blindness) to play great music that’s been described lovingly as “Joy Division having a Gary Numan party while eating pitch perfect cookies.”
These recent stars of an ABC rockumentary head to the US and Canada this month to take their music to the world and enjoy their time in the spotlight as the world’s most unlikely but most lovable rockstars.
