Did Laneway Steal Yeasayer From BDO?
Festival politics be harsh yo! We spoke to Anand from Brooklyn experimental bunch Yeasayer this morning about the band's upcoming trip out to Australia for Laneway Festival next year.
He told us that a spokesman for Laneway jumped on the guys when they were here for Splendour in the Grass and whispered sweet nothings in their ear, planting the seed for their addition to the indie festival's lineup, describing the Big Day Out as "bogan".
"It was at Splendour in the Grass where we were talking to…the promoter for Laneway, and at that point we weren't sure which one we were going to do Laneway or Big Day Out - and she informed us that Big Day Out was "more bogan" "
Listen to it from the horses (Anand's) mouth here
Love the pronunciation of 'bogan' BTW.
Anyway, not that the boys seem too concerned about being on the lineup for Laneway, by the sounds of it they'll be having pillow fights and toasting marshmallows with their fellow acts -
Yeasayer will join Chk Chk Chk, Ariel Pink, Beach House, Bear in Heaven, Blonde Redhead, Cloud Control, Cut Copy, Deerhunter, Foals, Gotye, Holy F*ck, Jenny & Johnny,Les Savy Fav, Local Natives, Menomena, PVT, Rat VS Possum, Stornoway, The Antlers, The Holidays, Two Door Cinema Club, Violent Soho, Warpaint and World's End Press next January and February on the 2011 Laneway Festival tour of duty.
Melbourne and Sydney dates have already sold out, but tickets are still available for Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, and if you're dedicated - Auckland, and if you're REALLY dedicated - Singapore.
