Foster The People
We don’t know about you, but we still can’t get Foster The People’s top tune ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ out of our heads – and it’s been out for over a year! It’s a testament to the Los Angeles’ three-piece’s slow-burning success and how long it’s taken for the world to catch on to their goodness.
Singer/guitarist/keyboardist Mark Foster started the band in 2009 as Foster & The People (they being drummer Mark Pontius (drums and extra percussion) and bassist Cubbie Fink) but apparently Americans are hard of hearing and thought they were called Foster The People, a name that eventually stuck.
Off the back of ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ performance (#3 in the US, #7 here), the band released their debut album Torches in May 2011, following it up with an Aussie tour in July and a well-received spot on Splendour In The Grass. They must have loved it because these Cali boys are coming back in January and February to ride shotgun on the Big Day Out!
